Métis Nation BC Provincial Economic Development Strategy

Unify worked alongside the Métis Nation of British Columbia to support the development of a province-wide economic development strategy grounded in community input and Nation-led governance.

Engagement with Métis communities across British Columbia focused on identifying shared priorities, challenges, and local strengths. This process balanced the diversity of community contexts with the need for a cohesive direction, ensuring the strategy reflected grassroots economic goals rather than a top-down approach.

Working with leadership, we supported the development of a strategy that connects community priorities to practical implementation. This included identifying economic opportunities, aligning with relevant provincial and federal policies, and mapping funding and trade opportunities that could support development.

The work focused on creating a framework that can be applied across different communities while maintaining local control. This included outlining clear steps for implementation and identifying where government programs and investment could support Métis-led initiatives. By mapping these connections clearly, the strategy strengthened investment readiness and gave Métis Nation BC a documented foundation for pursuing targeted funding and making the case for increased investment in Métis economic development.

The result is a unified roadmap that supports long-term economic development, strengthens the case for targeted investment, and provides communities with practical tools to move projects forward in ways that reflect their own priorities.
